Glasses have allowed people to see clearly (and look great) for more than 700 years. That means eyewear can be considered the world’s oldest and most successful example of wearable technology. VSP Global hasn’t been around quite that long, but for more than 60 years, the vision care and eyewear leader has been supporting advancements that promote the value of eye health, especially through technology.
In 2014, the company’s innovation team started work on Project Genesis. The goal was simple: develop a frame that seamlessly integrates activity tracking technology into a beautiful piece of eyewear. Through rapid prototyping, alongside a partnership and academic study with the University of Southern California Center for Body Computing , VSP developed the proprietary Level technology, frame designs, and smartphone app that syncs with the organization’s Eyes of Hope® charitable giving program.
The result? The next generation of wearable tech that is seamless, secure, and helps make a difference to those in need.
In 2018, VSP announced that Level would be available in select optical retailers in the United States.
